Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament 8/24

The 28 teams fishing the Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament experienced the same conditions as they had the last three or four weeks, a tough bite. Although the bite is tough there is always an angler or two that seems to figure out the right bait and the right structure.

There were three 5 fish limits weighed and only eight teams brought fish to the scales. Most of the anglers caught three to four bass that averaged 2 pounds, which just was not good enough. There were four bass that weighed 4 pounds or better with big bass of the tournament weighing 4.93 pounds thay was caught by the team of Terry Blankenship and Ron Clement.

Free entry for next week's Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament was drawn by the team of Leon Dannett and Tommy Jones.

Next week, August 31st, all teams that have qualified for the Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament Fish-Off need to be at PB#2 to draw for their take-off positions after the tournament weigh-in, on August 31st. If a team member is unable to make the drawing, the tournament committee will draw the teams take-off position after those present have drawn their number. Only one numbered chip per team will be drawn.

The tournament hours for the fish-off will be 5:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. Be at the PB#2 ramp for livewell inspection by 4:30 P.M.

Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament 8/17

Just like last week the bite was tough for most of the 29 teams  fishing the Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament, but just like any tournament there is always someone or some team that figures out the right bait and structure holding the good keepers and that's what happened last night.

The father and son team of Scott Danek, Sr. and Scott, Jr. surprised everyone when  they brought five bass to the scales weighing a whopping 19.56 pounds.

Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament 8/3

Last night was undoubtably the toughest or should I say the worst bite the 37 anglers expirienced all year fishing the Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament.  When fourteen pounds wins a tournament and just eight pounds places, it's tough, especially with the caliber of the anglers fishing in the tournament.   There were only seven teams that weighed fish and out of the seven there was just one five fish limit.  The only postitive thing last night was the weather was perfect.

Most of the anglers said it has been difficult to find a steady pattern for catching bass the last couple of weeks.  The anglers reported catching bass in ten feet or less and others as deep as twenty-five feet, but not on a consistent basis with most of the bass caught being non keepers.

There was one bass weighing 4.59 pounds and one bass weighing 5.69 pounds brought to the scales.

Delbert Shepherd and Frank Carroll caught the 5.69 pounder for big bass of the tournament.

Free entry for next week's Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament was drawn by Harry Litzy and Dan Swan.

1st.    Marcus Sykora & Chuck Knight       5 Bass   14.44 lbs.
2nd.   Delbert Shepherd & Frank Carroll    4 Bass   14.30 lbs.

Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament 8/3

Another hot and muggy night for the 32 teams fishing the Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament.  It was a typical August bite, tough for most of the anglers, but not all.  According to the anglers, the bite didn't really pick up until almost dark and that gave the anglers just about an hour and a half of action before the 10:00 P.M. weigh-in.

There's no doubt the bite has slowed down, but if an angler is fortunate enough to find the right brush pile or structure it will pay off just as it did for a couple teams tonight.  It does help to have a kicker or two in the livewell.  The baits having the most success are plastics and jigs worked super slow.

There were just six bass over 4 pounds or better brought to the scales, three of which weighed over 5 pounds.  Big bass for the tournament weighed in at 5.37 pounds and was caught by the team of Gary Shultz and Scott Melton.

Free entry for next week's Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament was drawn by the team of Mike Chandler and Adam Burris.

1st.    Gary Shultz & Scott Melton        5 Bass   19.56 lbs.
2nd.   Dan Bowman & Dirk Sluyter      5 Bass   17.37 lbs.
3rd.    Scott & Scott, Jr. Danek              5 Bass   14.76 lbs.
4th.    Wade Roden & Brett Hillhouse   5 Bass   12.94 lbs.
