Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament Fish Off

GARY SHULTZ AND SCOTT MELTON WIN WITH 18.80 POUNDS!!!

Last night was the final Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament of the year. Thirty-two teams qualifying for the year end fish-off launched out of PB#2 at 5:00 pm giving the anglers an hour and half extra to catch a five fish limit before the 10:00 pm weigh-in.

Fishing was fairly tough for most of the anglers except for three or four teams. Most of the anglers reported catching a lot of non-keepers, but very few keepers. The productive baits were jigs and plastics worked from 8 ot 15 feet in brush piles around docks and points.

Gary Shultz and Scott Melton brought an impressive weight of 18.80 pounds to the scales, which included a 5.14 pound largemouth for big bass of the tournament. Shultz said he and Scott had five keeper bites, and caught the 5.14 pounder fifteen minutes before weigh-in.

The second place team of Chuck Knight, Jr. and Branden Carnahan came close to the top spot with their 17.41 pound limit, but were bumped out by Schults and Melton by a pound an a half. Still, seventeen pounds ain't bad, especially as tough as the bite was and has been.
