Water Level: 656.31 with heavy generation scheduled for the weekend. Lake levels are expected to drop to 654.2 by Monday. That is a fast draw down. Truman lake level: 709.38

Water temps: 46-57 degrees

Toll Bridge to the Dam and Gravois area: Clear to stained. Fish are still biting the jerkbait in the clear to stained water. Points, channel swings and docks with brush have been producing quality fish. Chompers grubs and finesse jigs are also working well. The last couple of weeks they have been biting crankbaits such as the wiggle wart. Rock transitions are where I am catching my wart fish. Chunk rock to pea gravel transitions where a channel bank turns into a point.

Glaize: Stained to muddy. The high price of gas is keeping a lot of fishermen close to PB 2. There is a tremendous amount of fishing pressure here and the fish can blow out a jig fast because their pros at this fishing game. One thing they are not blowing out is MegaBass jerkbaits. They make the mistake of hitting that thing and they are pretty much caught. Those are nasty sharp hooks. With the cold front and rapid drop in the lake the jerkbait fished on the main lake points and bluffs will be the key. This weekend is setting up to be a winter-pre spawn fishing deal. Where last week it look as if they were going to skip pre spawn and go straight to spawning. That full moon and warming trend really put the idea in their heads.
Niangus: Stained to muddy. The water is much warmer around here. Mid to upper 50's during the warming trend. The fish here were trying to spawn. That full moon and warming trend had the males working on beds. Seems a little early for that but the fish didn’t think so. Hopefully this cold front will put them back into the pre spawn mode and they will wait till the next full moon in April to spawn. The wiggle wart has been working really good here fished on the rock transitions. Chunk rock to pea gravel. Also chompers grubs and split shot rigs worked on same transitions are taking those males that are setting up shop. The same baits worked a little deeper will produce the bigger females.

Osage River: The bite has been good in the Osage. The only problem is they are dropping the lake so much a lot of the places I am catching fish will be dry land by Monday. I am sure they will just relocate to the deeper holes. Probably group up and fishing will be good again. The lake is going to be 654 by Monday and that is going to limit where I can go in the river. The deeper holes and the bluff end points are going to be where the fish end up. Some of the best fishing will be jigs fished a long these same places. The lower Osage also is easier to get around when the water is low. It has bigger creeks and deeper water. The water should be pretty dirty all over the Osage this weekend. But once they get this lake down to where they want it the water will clear.
