Another hot day with temperatures reaching 96 degrees, which apparently kept a lot of the anglers who normally fish the Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament at home. There were only twenty-seven (27) teams that ignored the high temperatures with hopes of bringing a twenty pound limit to the scales.
Just like all bass tournaments, some anglers said they caught ten or twelve keepers and others said the bite for them was slow and they only had eight or nine bites in the 3 1/2 hour tournament with just two or three keepers.
There were just nine, 5 fish limits brought to the scales, six of the bass weighed five pounds or better with one tipping the scales at 6.15 pounds for big bass of the tournament caught by the team of Brandon Heckert and Brenden Carnahan.
There's no doubt the dog days of summer have arrived and the better quality bass have moved to deeper structure. Plastics and jigs are the best bite.
Free entry for next week's Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament was drawn by the team of Terry Blankenship and Ron Clement.
